Mr Gibbons was appointed Executive Vice President on 7 March 2019 after joining the team as General Manager – Grassy Mountain on 1 June 2017. He has over 30 years’ experience in mining and major projects, both greenfield and brownfields, and has worked in Africa, South America and Australia. Mr Gibbons was previously the General Manager of BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance’s Caval Ridge project and has also held positions as General Manager at Anglo American CapCoal operations in Australia and Vice President of Operations at Cerrejon, Colombia.

Mike Youl

Mr Youl was appointed Vice President Resource Development on 30 July 2015 in a contracting capacity. Mr Youl has over 40 years operational, project development and execution experience and was previously the BHP Billiton Metallurgical Coal Vice President Resource Development and Project Development Manager. Mr Youl has been involved in numerous projects including: Caval Ridge, Daunia, IndoMet Basin Development, Poitrel, Sth Walker Creek, Blackwater and Goonyella. Mr Youl’s expertise covers conceptual, pre-feasibility and feasibility stage resource and project development specialising in project optimisation. Mr Youl has also managed project development opportunities in Mozambique (Moatize - coal region), Mongolia (Tavan Tolgoi - coal), Vietnam (Anthracite), China (Met Coal), Russia (Elga, Kuznetsk Basin and Syradasoi), India (Sarshatali), Brazil (Iron ore) and Peru (Copper). Mike previously held positions as Director of CBM Innovations and Director of the Red Mountain Joint Venture.

John Wallington

John Wallington brings 30 years’ experience in the coal exploration and mining industry, including having held the position of Global CEO for the Anglo Coal Division of Anglo American plc, one of the world`s largest mining and natural resource groups, between 2005 and 2008.

As CEO of Anglo Coal, Mr Wallington was responsible for the management of the Coal Division, which had a turnover of over US$3.5 billion per annum and employed over 10,000 people. He was CEO of Coal of Africa between 2010-2013 and Head of Energy for Sibanye from 2016-2018. He has held Director positions with Keaton Energy (2009); Buffalo Coal (2015) and Kwatani 92018-2020). He holds a BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and has participated in executive programmes with both the London Business School and Harvard Business School.
